The Armed Forces Day Remembrance Ride on Saturday, May 19, 2012 was a wonderful day for making memories and reassuring the families of our fallen heroes that their losses will never be forgotten and the families will always be remembered as well. Over 150 riders and passengers saddled up from the American Legion Post 620 in Hugo, MN and rode off under a gloriously clear sky to re-visit two families and honor their heroes' memory. The ride stopped at homes in Forest Lake, MN as well as St. Cloud, MN to share an outpouring of emotion for two of our honored families.
A lunch stop at Vikingland Harley Davidson was included where the riders were treated to a Hog Roast complete with beans, potatoes and cookies. The 2012 TTTT "Never Forget" raffle bike was on display and tickets were being sold by our wonderful volunteers. Thank you to Dan and Seth of Vikingland for their hospitality and really rolling out the red carpet for the Tribute riders. All along the route, local and county law enforcement were out in force, assisting our road guards in making sure all the riders traversed the route safely. A big salute should go out to all of our law enforcement friends for their assistance.
The ride ended at 4:30 in the parking lot of Fatboys Bar and Grill in Ham Lake, MN. There, many of the riders shared in the fellowship of the day and re-lived the events that made this ride so special. Of course, what would an Armed Forces Day ride be without a little weather thrown in and some were caught in the showers and thunderstorms that arrived in the early evening. Thankfully, everyone arrived at their homes safely.
Thank you to all of the riders that made this Armed Forces Day ride a hit. The families we touched that day are comforted by the outreach and support shown to them and know they will always be remembered.
