Rockie Lynne

Rockie Lynne

Founder & National Spokesperson

Rockie Lynne's bond with the military runs deep. A veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, he understands the unique challenges and sacrifices faced by those in uniform.  Rockie often comments on the bravery that our active duty service members demonstrate, knowing how much conflict exists in our world today.  Today’s military literally put their lives on the line for our country— every day.  For that reason, Rockie has dedicated his life to bringing comfort to families who have suffered the loss of a hero exercising such bravery.

A professional musician, songwriter and storyteller by trade, Rockie co-founded Tribute To The Troops in 2004 with his friend, music executive Gregg Schmitt.  Since then, Rockie has been a tireless advocate for veterans' causes and uses his platform to raise awareness and support for the families of our fallen.  With the gift of music, Gold Star families often find solace, inspiration and a sense of shared experience in his songs. It's a testament to the profound connection between music and the military spirit.

Rockie is the subject of a documentary film chronicling his life as a musician, his charitable work and the personal story of his search for his biological roots as an adoptee.  Rockie Lynne: Where I Belong can be found on Amazon Prime and on the PBS app.

Gregg Schmitt

Gregg Schmitt

Founder

Gregg Schmitt founded Tribute To The Troops together with Rockie Lynne in 2003, initially inspired by Rockie’s song, “Fly Home.” After seeing the faces of some of Minnesota’s fallen heroes, Gregg realized that although there was nothing they could do to bring back those who made the ultimate sacrifice, they could do something to show their support and gratitude for the families left behind.  Namely, to let them know that their sacrifice did not go unnoticed.  That was the beginning of what has blossomed into a national organization specializing in honoring, supporting and embracing Gold Star families across the United States.

As a young musician, Gregg cut his teeth performing in various successful regional bands.  His love of music led to a career as a full-time music agent and to creating his own company, The Music Works, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  It was through his work as an agent that he and Rockie Lynne connected, as both professional associates and friends.  To this date, the agency remains one of the oldest and best regarded entertainment agencies in The Upper Midwest. His career has included being a full time drummer, band leader, booking agent, artist manager, promoter and entertainment buyer.

Gregg is a true Patriot, man of God and staunch admirer of those who serve our nation, and of their families. Gregg’s hobbies include on and off road motorcycles, fishing, adventure sports, travel, drumming and politics.
